Refugee (In- Canada & Abroad)
Refugee protection by the Canadian government is offered to people in and outside Canada who fear persecution, danger to their lives and risk to cruel and unusual treatment or punishment. These individuals had no choice but to leave their home country or the country in which they normally reside. Refugee claims can be made from inside or outside Canada. In order to make refugee claim the applicant must be eligible and persons who are ineligible include:
- Persons who are inadmissible to Canada under serious criminality, security risk or human rights international violation;
- Persons who made a refugee claim in the past which was refused, withdrawn or abandoned;
- Persons who have a pending refugee claim in another country or who have been granted convention refugee status in another country;
- Not being inadmissible to Canada under serious criminality, security risk or human or international rights violation.
- Persons who entered Canada via the United States (unless exempted)
