Citizenship Applications

Permanent Residents who have met the necessary physical presence requirements in Canada may be eligible to apply for a grant of Canadian Citizenship. There are additional requirements for applying for Canadian Citizenship such as filing taxes, passing the citizenship test and proving your proficiency in English and/ or French.

Spouses of Canadian citizens do not automatically become citizens, they too must meet the requirements mentioned above. However, if you were born outside Canada and you have a parent who is Canadian Citizen and was Canadian at the time of your birth, you may be eligible for Canadian Citizenship by descent.
